The Season Opener at Caraway was this Sunday, March 4th. They kicked off the season with a huge $5,000 to win Late Model Stock Car race. A bunch of fierce competitors showed up Sunday, names like Justin Carroll, Jason York and Travis Swaim punched their card to try and win the $5k. Travis Swaim won the pole in LMSC, Tommy Neal in LLM and Austin Harris in Charger.
The first race of the evening was the Charger event. Austin Harris looped his machine on the backstretch on lap one, but suffered no damage. Harris would charge back through the field and use a late race pass to win this event. Campbell finished second and Whaley third.
Tommy Neal started the Limited race on pole and led almost thirty laps before Mack Little finally got around him going into turn three. Mack would hold off Tommy and Josh Lowder to win this forty lap event. Lowder would finish second and Tommy Neal third.
AJ Sanders won the Mini-Stock race without much contest, he is searching for another Caraway Speedway Title this year.
The Late Model Stock race was a barn burner for the amount of cars they had. Travis Swaim led well over half the race before Justin Carroll finally moved him out of his way around lap seventy or so. Unfortunately for Carroll he had a tire problem shortly after this and that allowed Millington to stay within striking distance. Ryan Millington passed Carroll with five or so laps to go and set sail from there. Millington would bring home the $5k, Justin Carroll finished second and Travis Swaim third. Ryan Wilson and Nick Leitz would round out the top five.
Tommy Raino won the U-Car race. Caraway will be back in action this Sunday the 11th for the Season Opener for the Southern Modified Racing Series. They are expecting a great number of cars and we look forward to seeing you there!
